In depth
Verdict
Meridius was only beaten a short-head on the Polytrack earlier this month but that was a very ordinary maiden. Spiraea should go well if reproducing her debut third at Salisbury but Millers Wharf has had more than enough chances to shed his maiden tag and isn't improving. Port Alfred has a nice pedigree but has already been gelded and we'd rather take a chance that GOLDEN SECRET and Coire Gabhail will improve markedly on their initial efforts to take a hand in the finish. Preference is for Clive Cox' daughter of Sakhee's Secret, who is related to a couple of winners and will have learned plenty from her debut at Haydock in the autumn.
