In depth
Verdict
Italian Mist lines up in a bit of form and gets the vote over Larky's Lob and Geronimo. Italian Mist has taken well to Wolverhampton, making a winning debut on the fibresand at the start of the year, and finishing third off a much higher mark next time. He has since returned to winning ways on his first try at Southwell, dead-heating in the end after looking all over the easy winner with a furlong to go. Strictly on the form-book he should be tested by Larky's Lob on revised terms following their meeting here, and it has to be said that he does not appear to find much off the bridle. However, he has quickly adapted to the surface and should be followed for the time being. Geronimo, like the rest of his stable, has not been firing on all cylinders, but was fancied last time out on the strength of a close second to Wainwright. In hindsight his next race came too soon, and after a three-week break, he may prove troublesome. Course and distance winner Lucid Dreams was taken off his feet at Lingfield and will appreciate this slower surface, while Spindor is slowly coming down the weights but still looks up against it. Pips Song scored in selling company the time before last but is another facing a tough task, with Italian Mist holding the best credentials.
