Verdict
Not a race to get too excited about however narrow preference is for Socceroo ahead of Concealment and Fantasy Fighter. Dan Murphy has two in the race but Socceroo looks the pick. She made a pleasing debut back in April in a decent enough Haydock maiden and if she returns fit (presumably had some training problems), then she could prove hard to beat. Stablemate Martingrange Boy makes his debut and should be monitored for market support however blinkers on for his racecourse introduction doesn't bode well. Fellow newcomer Stoneacre Baby was an expensive purchase and wouldn't need to be a world-beater to make a winning start to her career. Howards Hope has the blinkers on for the first time in an effort to induce some improvement, whilst General Ting represents a powerful stable but will be more of a prospect for handicaps next year over longer trips. Gunner Fly and Fantasy Fighter should both come on for their debuts and need checks in the betting, however Concealment looks an obvious threat. She should have improved since her first run and sharper today she could make an impact. An open opener and we will open with Socceroo to score.
