In depth

Verdict

Recent winners Star Lad and Evangelist will get plenty of support here, however we will side with Katy O'Hara. Sally Hall's mare returned to somewhere near her best when chasing home Enjoy The Buzz over course and distance last month. A reproduction od that effort should be good enough against this similar opposition. Star Lad could well be the main threat to the selection having beaten previous winner Sergeant Slipper over course and distance. The only worry is the six pounds he concedes to the rest of the field. Evangelist got the better of Enjoy The Buzz last time so is entitled to beat the selection, however this filly is non too reliable and so is passed over for that reason. The old-timer Bold Effort is also worth a mention as he would easily beat this bunch on his best form , but in what is another tricky event Katy O'Hara just gets the vote.
