Verdict
This is not the most inspiring of contests, so only a tentative vote goes to Pending over the likes of Granary Girl, Sol Rojo and Weet Yer Tern. The market will no doubt be a major indicator here, and on past efforts in slightly better company, Pending should be a leading player. Richard Fahey's charge nestles on a fair mark these days, and although probably better on a Fibresand surface, does not have a lot to beat. Granary Girl was a Banded winner last October and takes a drop in grade, but she has not shown much of late and cannot be recommended with confidence. Sol Rojo gained his last win here 10 months ago but has struggled since in the main, despite the odd placing, while Weet Yer Tern is still a maiden and is basically frustrating to follow. Colonel Bilko has flattered to deceive as well, so it could well be that despite his misgivings, Pending is the safest option.
