Verdict

A race that will not live long in the memory and narrow preference is for Abbeygate ahead of Veneer. Bets should certainly be kept to a minimum here as the fayre is decidedly poor; Abbeygate is one of the runners in the lineup who at least knows how to win. He has won a similar contest over the course and distance in the past and should be a major player if repeating the run of his third last time. Princess Zaha is at least unexposed, so certainly should not be overlooked, whilst Veneer has ability but hasn't been seen on a racecourse for a long time. Just Crystal has claims on the pick of his form, and whilst Santera should go well at a price, it is Abbeygate who we reluctantly return to as the winner.
