In depth

Verdict

It can pay to side with NO WONGA in this apprentice handicap; Sonny Sam and Law Of The Jungle are put forward as the main dangers. The selection was an eyecatcher when he got going too late over this trip at Kempton on Monday. He has only had the two runs on the all-weather so there may be more to come and he looks to hold a big chance. Sonny Sam has yet to get his head in front in 16 attempts but he did shape with a bit more encouragement at Southwell last time and he is unexposed on the all-weather. Law Of The Jungle is certainly interesting as she showed improved form for the step up to this trip at Southwell earlier in the week and if she can build on that then she could be a player. Barbirolli has won over the course and distance and he wasn't beaten far last time so if he gets the strong pace that he needs to be seen at his best then he could go close. Highland River went close in a handicap at Southwell last week but that was over a mile and he has yet to prove himself over this trip. No Wonga showed enough last time to make him the one to beat today.
