Verdict
ARDENT PRINCE is well in at the weights and comes here looking to back up a Lingfield victory, and is taken to do so largely at the expense of Pab Special and Herbert Crescent. Alan McCabe's charge took time to settle before winning that race and is certainly open to improvement. The step up in trip looks to be a positive and if you ignore his last run here and look at his previous efforts, you'll see he does handle this surface. When he blobbed here, it was due to being hampered at the start. Pab Special won here on his penultimate outing which was his first success at the 25th time of asking on the all-weather. He found one too good next out in a similar race, but is more than capable of taking this off his present mark. Herbert Crescent may be carrying too much after a rare success last time out on a switch from fibre sand to polytrack, but Ollie Pears and Jamie Moriarty are coming here for just this one race, which may be significant. Several have realistic claims, but Ardent Prince is the one we'll side with.
