Two amateur races get us underway and Northern Desert is offered up as the selection with Machinate and Zennerman put up as the dangers. Today's trip should represent few problems and the nine-year-old has gone well for lady riders in the past. Machinate has struggled to win in handicaps but did post a victory in claiming class in January. Ben Brisbourne should know him well enough by now. Zennerman has left Kevin Ryan and is now in the care of Julia Foster. He could be more at home over today's trip than the seven he was most recently tried over. Arturius has had two recent runs on the snow and ice of San Moritz so it remains to be seen as to how we should equate that form. Swift Cut has demonstrated ability in the past although his most recent form has been regressive. Arctic Desert recently obliged in a Southwell handicap over 7 furlongs. He is a fair sort when consenting to give his running but he doesn't look an obvious ride for an amateur pilot. Mountain Pass is tried up in trip for the first time. Northern Desert is recommended as the percentage play.
