Verdict
Richard Hannon wastes no time in turning out Miss Champers after her defeat at Southwell three days ago. She was never really travelling well there and the return to Wolverhampton, scene of her two previous victories, should pay dividends. She actually looked better on the second occasion when stepped up to seven furlongs, defying a 9lb rise in the weights, but is equally effective over this trip, and plans to ship her to America are on hold while she is in this sort of form. Lady Natilda showed plenty of speed when scoring on her all-weather debut here in October, but has been off since and may be too high in the weights anyway for what she achieved. Royal Grand might pay to follow this winter if taking to the artificial surface, but on this occasion is best watched. Star Lad looks nicely weighted and Batailley appreciated the heavy going when second at Nottingham, but if Miss Champers is to be tested, it could be Badou who had shown absolutely nothing until fitted with blinkers at Leicester on his latest outing. Gerard Butler's colt knuckled down to his task to get third and like the rest of his stable, will pay his way throughout the next few weeks.
