Verdict

Plenty of contenders in this opener but a speculative vote goes to recent Southwell winner SHAWKANTANGO. He won this last year and can race off a lower mark today with an apprentice's allowance taken into account. Quality Art has leading claims having slipped down the weights and going close at Lingfield last time while Spic 'n Span and Angelo Poliziano are closely matched on collateral form with the in-form Where's Reiley. Steelcut is just preferred to One Way Or Another over today's minimum trip and Lingfield winner Speedyfix is yet another to consider.
