In depth

Verdict

Dancing Dude looks by far the most interesting of the newcomers (unless there is a bundle of money for El Passos), however FERNEY BOY should relish the longer trip today and is preferred to Gordon Road. Alan Swinbank's gelding was well-held on his debut here earlier in the month but is now stepped up to a more suitable trip. Robert Winston takes over in the saddle and sure to have learnt plenty from his debut he looks likely to run well. National Theatre shaped with promise on his Lingfield debut, French recruit Street Runner is a hard one to weigh up and needs a market check, whilst Wrongwayround has looked a slow learner and he cannot be discounted after the penny seemed to drop at Southwell last time. Major Pop was only 3/1 for that Southwell race but didn't show much and he needs to improve, although this surface may suit more, whilst Dancing Dude is nicely bred and must be of interest. His stable are adept at finding good opportunities for their maidens and this 280,000 Euros son of Danehill Dancer is bred to walk all over these. Shut The Bar is also considered, however the vote is given to potential improver Ferney Boy.
