Verdict
ALKAAMEL (NAP) was fancied to defy a 6lb rise at Newcastle last time and duly landed the odds with the minimum of fuss. The handicapper has taken no chances raising him a further 11lb but an apprentice’s allowance eases that burden and William Haggas’ charge is preferred to Spirit Warning. The latter also bids for a hat-trick having landed a double on Polytrack and beating Hypnos at Lingfield last time while novice winner Balance Of Power makes more appeal than Glorious Dane having been gelded since last in action.
