In depth
Verdict
No strength in depth to this contest and Hawkit is given one more chance ahead of Book Matched and Ballyrush. The selection has been knocking at the door on virtually all starts and has to be fully respected again at this modest level. Book Matched finished just under three lengths ahead of Hawkit here last time, but Hawkit is seven-pounds better off at today's weights. Ballyrush is certainly improving now and his run behind Vortex last time in a handicap entitles him to claims here too in what is, as we say, a race lacking in strength. Of the others, Showtime Annie's best piece of form was a third at Ayr three runs ago. A repeat of that would make her competitive for a place. Diverted has plenty of speed in her pedigree so is probably best watched on her debut. Overall then, Hawkit is the percentage call and gets the vote.
