Verdict
A weak contest that may go the way of Platinum Chief, with Jakarmi and Bretton likely to fight out the places. Alan Berry¿s gelding took some time to find his feet on the turf during the summer but has taken just two runs to come to grips with the all-weather. His first effort was pretty dismal but he followed that with an encouraging fourth behind Sir Jasper in what looked a fairly strong race. He can improve again on that and will be the one to beat. Bretton has been noted staying on nicely in better races than this and can take a hand in the finish. Jakarmi though may be the biggest threat to the selection having chased home Myannabana in a better race than this last month. He has been well beaten on two subsequent outings but the opposition was of a higher standard than today¿s. Armentieres does have winning form so commands respect but in a poor affair Platinum Chief is given the vote.
