In depth

Verdict

Lunar Express looks capable of taking this ordinary contest, with Mr Floodlight, Merchant Bankes and Pab Special others to consider. The selection was runner-up over course and distance on her first start on the surface earlier in the month when she ran on after being headed close home but was just touched off. After just two outings she looks capable of a fair bit more improvement and can land this as part of that upward curve. Mr Floodlight drops back to 7f after contesting a couple of races over a mile. Last time out over that trip at Lingfield the gelding put up a good run to be beaten only a length after a break, and provided he doesn't bounce he should be closely involved. Merchant Bankes handled this surface well over nine furlongs in September and went closest to winning over this trip at Musselburgh in June, so he has a couple of things in the plus column if he can go well fresh, while Pab Special comes here after a break and is interesting now stepped up in trip. But Lunar Express looks a surefire improver and can score.
