In depth

Verdict

Prophete De Guye is probably better over fences but has been placed in his last two starts over the smaller obstacles and should play a part here. With AP McCoy booked, it would be no surprise to see the lightly-weighted Fishoutofwater improve on his efforts so far while Thomas Wild, Mauricetheathlete, Ironical and Orion Express are all on retrieval missions having started favourite for their latest outings. Rifleman won this in 2009 and can be forgiven his latest run at Haydock but the vote goes to HALDIBARI. Successful here 12 months ago, Shaun Lycett's seven-year-old ran well on the all-weather at Wolverhampton last month and should be cherry-ripe now.
