In depth

Verdict

Bathiva has an impressive 4-6 strike rate over fences at or around this trip but the gelding has now been hiked 5lb to a mark of 133 for his latest win and that may prove a touch too much. Course and distance winner PISGAH PIKE must concede weight all round but does have a touch of class and could well prove too good for his useful rivals. He's two from three over fences and only surrendered his unbeaten record when losing a shoe at Uttoxeter. Mercian Prince and Admiral's Sunset have both proved a credit to connections and should be competitive, whilst Leapaway, yet another course and distance winner, cannot be discounted either in an intriguing little affair.
