Verdict
Different ground is forecast to recent meetings and if the ground remains at good-to-soft then it may pay to side with Tom George's COTTAGE ACRE. There is plenty of point-to-point form to work with here and weighing up the relative merits of the form from between the flags is some challenge. The selection was a winner at Killaloe in Ireland when last seen and has his first run under rules today. He has joined an in-form yard and it will be interesting to see how he moves in the market in the trainer's own colours. With the last eight horses that Gordon Elliott has sent across from Ireland, the form figures read 3-2-2-3-1-1-1-3. They make for impressive reading by anyone's standards and therefore Ballylanigan is a major player with McCoy booked and the step up in trip in his favour. City Heights was brought down on his final Irish point-to-point run and it will be interesting to see how his confidence is today, Alfie's Isle has some (rather modest) experience of these hurdles, whilst Gemini Ahhs made a decent impression in three bumper runs and his trainer has a 24% strike-rate here in recent seasons. The step up in trip should suit Scalleys Run so watch the market there is the advice, whilst Wricksons Bridge is another point-to-pointer who looks to be starting off at the right trip. Most of these will go on to much better things over fences, however today may be the day for Cottage Acre.
