    Verdict

Hey Gaman never figured when quietly fancied for the Chesham Stakes at Ascot but had only been beaten a nose on debut over this trip at Leicester so rates a threat to ARBALET (NAP). Hugo Palmer’s son of Dark Angel, half-brother to a useful miler in France who won as a juvenile, was left in the stalls on his debut at York but stayed on strongly once the penny dropped and can go one better today. Gotti got off the mark at the second attempt at Windsor but is giving weight to a couple of potentially decent two-year-olds. Expediate wasn’t given a hard time at Goodwood but may need another run or two.

Arbalet (IRE) 9-4fav (9-5) Upset in stalls and dwelt, held up in rear, headway towards far side of group and plenty to do over 2f out, stayed on inside final furlong, went 2nd close home, no chance to reach winner, 2nd of 8, 1 1/2l behind International Man (9-5) at York 6f mdn stks (3) gf in Jun.
