        Verdict

        Cavendish ran a shocker when sent off favourite at Beverley and The Writer returned a well beaten favourite at Windsor. The latter is one of several fitted with headgear for the first time including Overstate but a tentative vote goes the way of HOLD THE PRESS. The latter spoilt his chance at Bath by refusing to settle and fading in the closing stages but that was his first start since January and Robyn Brisland’s charge should be less fresh today.
