In depth
Verdict
AVEROO has shown improved form of late with a decent second at Newcastle followed by a comfortable success at Redcar last month and the four-year-old can defy the 4lb rise for that success, getting the vote ahead of Dualagi and Titus Gent. John Ryan's gelding has run better of late but has paid the penalty at the hands of the handicapper as a result and may now be a shade high in the weights. Briannsta has been beaten in sellers in his last four starts and faces no easy task back in a handicap, while Short Cut has been thereabouts of late but remains a maiden after 10 starts and he may be better over seven furlongs. Welsh Opera is hard to recommend after recent outings and of more interest may be Dualagi. Martin Bosley's mare has been running to a consistent level of form of late and she should be involved at the business end of the race but preference is for the in-form Averoo, who can win again.
