In depth

Verdict

Colourpoint has a leading chance against New Art and newcomers Crosby Hall and Fen Guest. Colourpoint will find this drop in grade a big help as she bids to open her account on this, her fourth career start. Clive Brittain is never afraid of pitching them in at the deep end, and that is just what he did to his filly at York in June as she was asked to tackle Group 3 company in the Albany Stakes. She ended up down the field behind La Chunga, and then had the misfortune to run into Richard Hannon's highly-rated Zavone in a Listed contest at Sandown. She ran very well to finish second, and her trainer has decided to go the easy route here to make sure that she visits the winner's enclosure sooner rather than later. The American-bred should prove far too strong for New Art, who to be fair, did have a poor draw on his Sandown debut. He will have learnt from that and should be placed at least. Crosby Hall is related to plenty of sprint winners and holds an entry in the Redcar Two-Year-Old Trophy but is best watched on his debut, as is Fen Guest who is bred to want further. On this occasion they all have it to do to stop Colourpoint.
