        Verdict

        St Petersburg comes here in good form and will appreciate the step up to a mile. He doesn't look overburdened on his first venture into handicap company and is taken to prove too strong for his rivals. Californian has been a shade disappointing since finishing a close fourth behind Cranshaws at Newmarket, but he still cannot be left out of calculations in this. Special Envoy, whose dam stayed middle-distances, will be more at home over this trip and could well have been let in lightly on his handicap debut, while other to note include the Turtle Island colt Iloveturtle and the handicap debutante Prince Ivor.
