Verdict
A race where the betting market may confuse as much as it can highlight those in with chances in a very competitive heat. Therefore, the selection of Oscar Pepper is made with a degree of trepidation, as there are a host of others that come into the race with sound chances of spoiling the party. Mount Hillaby, Fen Gypsy and Tedsdale Mac are just a trio that look sure to make this a real test as things unfold, while Didn't Tell My Wife would have to be a serious danger if there is sufficient ease in the ground for her to do herself justice. Mount Hillaby - trained locally by Mick Easterby - will no doubt be a popular choice now that she has shown signs of a return to form, while Tedsdale Mac has been consistent all season and can be relied upon to go close to making the frame if he runs his usual race. Fen Gypsy has also be covering himself in clover after a series of rock-solid performances of late. However, he is still 5lb higher than when he won at Windsor and others look a little better treated in the context of this race. Oscar Pepper being one of those as he has won off as high as 84 in the past. Granted that effort came on the all weather and he will do well to run up to that level here. However, he has much fewer questions to answer regarding his well being and ability to handle the ground, so gets the narrowest of votes in an extremely tricky race to fathom.
