          Verdict

          HITCHENS gets the nod in this quality sprint. David Barron's gelding ran a cracker in the Great St Wilfrid given the ground would have been too slow. Now back on a quicker surface and off a mark of 96 he can make hay while the sun shines. Lowdown was badly outpaced at Ffos Las but is a player here if clinging onto their coat tails early on, quick ground suits Esoterica, whilst Misplaced Fortune is consistent if perhaps a tad high in the handicap. A bigger threat could be Midnight Martini if she's on a going day, with Piazza San Pietro in good nick (Ryan Moore booked) and the very nicely-handicapped Valery Borzov the others to consider.
