In depth

Verdict

Bendarshaan is 2lbs lower than when successful at Musselburgh two starts ago but that was a moderate contest and Mark Johnston's gelding was well held last time so preference is for Mpenzi, with Panzer rated the best of the remainder. The selection has shown progressive form of late and lost no caste in defeat behind the improved Oblique at Epsom last time so may be worth another chance in this company. Mick Channon's Le Tiss is slipping to a fair mark but could probably do with some more help from the handicapper, while Calatagan did not find as much as anticipated at Catterick earlier in the week and may be best watched at present. Dance To My Tune has claims on the pick of his form but tends to find at least one too good and of more interest may be Tiamo, who has slipped to a fair mark. A market move for Ego Trip would be of interest but a bigger threat is likely to come from Panzer, who disappointed on his return from a break at Salisbury last month but has solid claims on earlier form and with the Roger Charlton stable in good form has to be respected. Mpenzi has done little wrong of late though and is taken to resume winning ways.
