In depth

Verdict

Fox Vardy has his quirks but was on his best behaviour at Newmarket a couple of weeks ago, though has been raised 9lb for that. Gabrial The One won at Newcastle last month and followed that up with a good third at Thirsk so enters calculations and is preferred to stablemate Sootability in this grade. Sandret was progressive last season and may have needed his run at Ayr but tries this longer trip for the first time. Purdey's Gift was running over 2m at the start of the year and seems best on the all-weather, as does Sweet Celebration, but there are possibilities about Cockalorum. MUTAMADED is back on a winning mark and was second off a pound higher here last summer. He had a pipe-opener at Ripon last month and can come good again in this.
