Verdict
Several of these might be suited by a stiffer test of stamina nowadays including last year's winner Hanoverian Baron and Kansai Spirit, who completed last season's hat-trick over 1m6f at Haydock. Deauville Flyer also stays further though he did beat THE FONZ over C&D at this meeting last year. Sir Michael Stoute's five-year-old is fractionally worse off at the weights today but did improve afterwards and made a very satisfactory reappearance over this trip at Newmarket, despite pulling too hard for his own good. That run will have blown away a few cobwebs and he can return to winning ways here. None of Mark Johnston's trio can be ignored but the progressive Awsaal faces a stiff task under top weight.
