Slingsby finished runner-up five times before landing a maiden handicap at Redcar then followed-up in a poor Wolverhampton race for which he's been raised an incredible 13lb. He's obviously benefited from reverting to sprints but this is a much stiffer task. Best Trip had been racing exclusively on the all-weather before scoring over 7f on soft ground at Catterick on his debut for Marjorie Fife but he's still well handicapped and has a tremendous strike-rate of 10-59. Monarch Maid won a Catterick handicap on fast ground last month and is only 3lb higher but has never raced in this class so the vote goes to HARWOODS VOLANTE (NAP). David O'Meara's charge has been in fine form since joining the yard and though his last two runs have been over further he was leading over this trip at Newcastle last Saturday and only faded in the closing stages.
