Verdict

A good renewal of this Group three, with the Oaks favourite Islington, needing to win this in style if she is to retain her position at the head of the market. The form of her maiden win at Newbury, was given a boost when the runner-up in that event, Fragrant View, went on to win a maiden at Chester in good style. She will be given a stern test by Half Glance, a Group three winner as a two-year-old, who only has a half penalty to carry in this. She lost nothing in defeat, when found out in a slowly run event last time and may end up making her own running. She will prove hard to beat. Fraulein, just behind Half Glance in the fillies mile last year, will be suited by the step up in trip, and if fully wound up, should give a good account, while Spinnette, after just the one outing last term, albeit a promising one behind Sundrenched, looks sure to win races, but she may have to wait a little longer to do so. Alexander Three D, the winner of a Listed event last backend, left the impression she could well prove to be more of a staying type and while the galloping track will suit, she may find these to sharp for her.
