Verdict
SONNY LISTON had the misfortune of coming up against a well-treated stablemate at Royal Ascot and he can land a knockout blow to his rivals in the John Smith’s Cup. Long Tradition is among those to tick the box marked unexposed and he gets in near the bottom of the weights after a success at Chelmsford. Sea The Casper hasn’t given the handicapper much chance to look at him this year and was to make a successful reappearance at Lingfield. Spirit Dancer has performed well here in the past and is very much respected. Nobel disappointed here in May but along with the oft-raced Scampi, the pair represent a stable that has won two renewals of the race inside the last five years. Of those at longer odds, Faylaq is of appeal. Jim Goldie’s string are in fine fettle at present and the veteran put up a credible effort in the Northumberland Vase.
