Verdict
Bogart won this in 2013 but hasn't won since though he's continued to run well at this sort of level and was conceding 6lb to the winner when a close third to Huntsman's Close in last year's Ayr Silver Cup. The winner hasn't had much racing subsequently and ran another fine race in the Stewards' Cup at Goodwood. Desert Law landed the Epsom Dash and is penalised for last week's victory at Nottingham which takes him to a mark of 106 for this. Robot Boy wasn't far behind in this last year and the ground is in his favour unlike his Musselburgh conqueror Tangerine Trees, who is well handicapped but needs more rain. Secretinthepark and Dutch Masterpiece fought out a finish in the Shergar Cup Dash at Ascot and are difficult to separate so in a wide-open contest it's SHORE STEP, who was in the lead at this trip before weakening close home in the Stewards' Cup Consolation, who gets the nod for the in-form Mick Channon.
