Huddersfield thumped Bradford 50-16 at the Galpharm Stadium to take over from Castleford at the top of the Engage Super League.
Winger Jermaine McGillvary crossed twice, his first coming after 72 seconds, as the rampant Giants ran in nine tries against their Yorkshire rivals.
Graeme Horne also bagged a brace for the hosts while scrum-half Danny Brough kicked seven goals to help his side leapfrog the Tigers, who had only gone top again themselves with a win over Catalan Dragons on Saturday.
The Bulls, who had scored in the first half through Shaun Ainscough, did grab two late tries to give the final score a slightly better look, though only Salford have now conceded more points this year than Mick Potter's side.
Gift
They didn't help their cause by gifting Huddersfield the opening try of the game inside two minutes of the game getting underway.
Looking to reach a pass two Bradford players collided with each other, allowing Leroy Cudjoe to set McGillvary running away to the corner.
Cudjoe himself went over soon after and when David Fa'alogo easily got on the end of McGillvary's well-weighted kick, Huddersfield had crossed three times in the opening eight minutes.
Bradford's miserable start continued on 15 minutes when Bryn Hargreaves failed to execute a simple rollback after he had been tackled in midfield, gifting the Giants a scrum down.
Scott Grix rode two tackles and evaded three defenders on the line to register a fine solo effort soon after, with Brough finally proving successful with the conversion attempt having missed his previous efforts.
The visitors briefly threatened a comeback when former Wigan winger Ainscough got them on the board, Patrick Ah Van adding the extras.
However, before the break Larne Patrick and Graeme Horne had polished off slick moves to give the Giants a commanding 30-6 lead at the break.
They showed no signs of letting up after the interval as just four minutes into the second half McGillvary grabbed his second of the afternoon.
O'Donnell sin-binned
Even with Luke O'Donnell sin-binned for a professional foul on Brett Kearney Huddersfield still continued to pile on the points, Brough knocking over a penalty on 52 minutes with his team down to 12 men.
When they were back to full strength they added an eighth try through Dale Ferguson, on his home debut, on 63 minutes.
Horne notched his second of the afternoon soon after to help bring up the half century. His effort also sparked a mass exodus of Bradford fans, who had clearly suffered enough, from the away end of the ground.
Those Bulls fans who had already left missed a pair of consolation scores in the closing stages, Marc Herbert and Gareth Raynor both going over late on, with Ah Van converting the latter's effort to take his tally to 18 goals for the season.
