Hull KR second-row Clint Newton could be thrown right into the deep end of the huge derby game against Hull FC after three months out injured.
Newton has spent three months on the sidelines with knee and calf injuries, but could return to action in the white hot heat of a local derby at Craven Park on Sunday.
Liam Colbon could also come back into contention but centre Jake Webster and prop Joel Clinton are both out for a month with shoulder problems.
The Robins lost both Super League games by just four points each time last season, and will be thirsty for some revenge on Sunday.
Rovers have been boosted by the news that long-serving forward Kirk Netherton has signed a new deal to keep him at the club until the end of the 2013 season.
Hull KR are tenth in Super League, three points off the play-offs and two places behind Hull, but both teams are coming off a defeat in their last outing.
Hull's veteran scrum-half Sean Long is poised to return to the starting line-up after recovering from a thumb injury, while centre Kirk Yeaman is free to play after avoiding a ban when facing the disciplinary panel this week.
