Hull could hand a debut to new signing Sam Obst when they welcome Leeds to the KC Stadium on Friday night, live on Sky Sports.
Australian Obst joined the Black and Whites this week on a two-year deal from financially-stricken Super League rivals Wakefield.
The 30-year-old can play at hooker or in either half-back position - an area where Airlie Birds coach Richard Agar has been looking to bolster ever since the departure of Shaun Berrigan before the start of the campaign.
"He's a great professional, on and off the field," Hull coach Richard Agar told Sky Sports News HD.
"Obviously as a team it's fair to say we've been light in the play-making department, certainly around (numbers) six-seven and nine.
"He will give us some quality, some depth and some experience in all of those positions."
Obst is the only new face in Hull's 19-man squad following the derby loss to Hull KR in Cardiff, with Liam Cunningham the man to make way for him.
The Robins gained bragging rights over their city rivals with a 32-22 triumph in the final match of Millennium Magic Weekend in the Welsh capital.
Hauraki available
Meanwhile, Leeds - who opened their season with a thrilling victory over neighbours Bradford - have made two alterations to their squad.
Weller Hauraki has now finally received his visa and could make his first competitive start for the Rhinos since being signed from Crusaders.
The second rower takes the place of Ali Lauitiiti, who been ruled out with a head injury, while Lee Smith also comes into the 19-man party.
New Leeds coach Brian McDermott has warned his players to be wary of a backlash from Hull after their disappointing derby defeat to Rovers.
"The KC Stadium is a pretty tough place to go at the best of times and I am sure they will be disappointed to have lost out to Hull KR last Sunday," he told the club's website.
"They will also want to get their home campaign off to a positive start so the challenges are there for us.
"They have got a few new faces in their squad this week which I am sure will freshen things up for them."
