Leeds go into Friday's game without a specialist prop after all five squad members were ruled out through injury or suspension.
With England captain Jamie Peacock recovering from knee surgery and Ryan Bailey about to have an operation on his groin, Rhinos have also ruled out Luke Burgess with a knee problem.
Kylie Leuluai is still recovering from a torn pectoral muscle and with Australian newcomer Ben Cross picking up a one-match ban for a late tackle in last Saturday's game at Warrington, Brian McDermott will call for emergency cover.
Matters are further muddied by having two front rowers on loan at rival Super League clubs, but Kyle Amor has only just joined Wakefield and Luke Ambler is due to spend the whole season at Harlequins.
It means back rowers Ian Kirke and Jamie Jones-Buchanan will take over in the front row against the Reds.
McDermott has added young Cumbrian forwards Jared Stewart and Brad Singleton, who have yet to make their Super League debuts, to the initial squad.
Confident
Salford are confident stand-off Stefan Ratchford will be fit to start after recovering from a gashed shin sustained against Wigan last week.
Captain Daniel Holdsworth and prop Ryan Boyle are set to return after both sat out the 16-32 defeat to the Warriors with last minute injuries.
The Reds haven't beaten the Rhinos in the last 10 meetings of the two teams, though McDermott knows that the streak could be in danger of being broken.
"I'm sure Salford will come thinking they can do a number on us," said the Leeds boss. "If they have watched our last two games, they will fancy their chances and that hurts our players to think that.
"There is still a lot of belief within the squad and we know the areas that we need to fix up.
"We have got a tough challenge this week, especially up front, but we have spoken about how good it would feel if we could produce a quality performance even with that adversity."
Leeds squad: Webb, Smith, Senior, Hall, Burrow, Buderus, Jones-Buchanan, Ablett, Sinfield, Lauitiiti, Kirke, Watkins, Hauraki, Clarkson, Pitts, Jones-Bishop, McShane, Singleton, Stewart.
Salford squad: Patten, Broughton, Henry, Nero, Gibson, Ratchford, Holdsworth, Cashmere, Godwin, Boyle, Neal, Adamson, Wild, Smith, Sneyd, Parker, Paleaaesina, Spencer, Jewitt.
