Salford back Ashley Gibson has returned to training and could face former team Leeds in Friday's Super League clash.
Gibson has been named in the Reds' squad for new coach Matt Parish's first home game, but there is no place for Sean Gleeson, who is also working his way back to fitness after injury.
Parish began his career at Salford with an away defeat to Hull KR in his first full game in charge two weeks ago.
But the Australian is hoping he can celebrate his first match in front of the home fans at the Willows with victory over the Rhinos.
"The club has really made me feel welcome - it's been terrific," he said. "The players have been fantastic. Their effort has been great. We need to translate that into games now.
Good test
"We have plenty to look forward to in the future but we need to finish off this year with some good performances.
"We've had a week off and it's freshened them up. They have come back jumping out of their skins.
"Leeds are one of the great clubs of this competition and are certainly in a bit of form, so it is going to be a good test for us."
Leeds, who are unbeaten at the Willows in Super League, make the trip across the Pennines without Brett Delaney and Weller Hauraki, who are suffering groin and hamstring injuries respectively.
Ben Jones-Bishop's participation is also in doubt after he suffered a knock, but Kallum Watkins returns to the Rhinos squad for the clash.
Salford: Patten, Broughton, Nero, Jewitt, Henry, Williams, Holdsworth, Cashmere, Godwin, Boyle, Neal, Ratchford, Anderson, Smith, Sneyd, Gibson, Sidlow, Paleaaesina, Wild.
Leeds: Webb, Smith, Hall, McGuire, Burrow, Leuluai, Buderus, Peacock, Jones-Buchanan, Ablett, Sinfield, Lauitiiti, Bailey, Kirke, Watkins, Clarkson, Pitts, Jones-Bishop, McShane.
