Wigan will be looking to take over at the Super League summit when they host Castleford at the DW Stadium on Wednesday night.
The midweek fixture, originally scheduled for the weekend of the World Club Challenge game, sees the in-form Warriors going for a fourth straight win.
Success over the Tigers would mean the reigning champions leapfrog over Warrington, who are currently one point clear, and into top spot in the table.
Coach Michael Maguire had made just the one change from the squad that was named to face Leeds last Friday - Liam Farrell being recalled in place of Paul Prescott, who is sidelined with a hamstring injury.
Gareth Hock - who made his comeback from a two-year drugs ban in the comfortable home victory over Huddersfield on June 25 - is set to take over from Prescott in the pack.
The England forward did not feature against the Rhinos last time out, making way for the return from suspension of fellow forward Chris Tuson.
"Gaz will come back in and he's looking forward to it," Maguire said. "He had to sit out last week but now he's got another chance."
However, the Cherry and Whites boss was forced to make a late change to his line-up due to Pat Richards failing a fitness test. Darrell Goulding will take over on the wing, although Stefan Marsh has also been brought into the squad.
Travel sickness
Castleford, meanwhile, go into the game, which is live on Sky Sports HD 2/2 from 7.30pm, looking to reverse a worrying run on the road.
The Tigers have been triumphant just once in their last six away outings, conceding more than 50 points on their trips to Catalan Dragons and Warrington Wolves.
Coach Terry Matterson - who announced on Monday that he will be leaving the Yorkshire club at the end of the season - has, like opposite number Maguire, been forced into altering his original squad.
Past and present captains Ryan Hudson and Danny Orr have both been ruled out, with youngsters John Davies and Charlie Martin called up.
Back-row forward Davies, 20, is in line to make his second Super League appearance, while 18-year-old prop Martin has yet to play in the first team.
Prop Rob Parker could make his debut too, having been signed on loan from Salford. He takes the place of Paul Jackson.
Young centre Greg Eden retains his place in the squad after scoring on his Super League debut in the home loss to the Wolves last Friday.
The two sides met only recently at the PROBIZ Coliseum, Castleford clawing back an 18-point half-time deficit to salvage a 22-22 draw.
Wigan squad: S. Tomkins, Goulding, Carmont, Richards, Deacon, Leuluai, McIlorum, Coley, Hansen, J. Tomkins, O'Loughlin, Lima, Hoffman, Finch, Mossop, Farrell, Tuson, Charnley, Hock.
Castleford squad: Mathers, Arundel, Owen, Chase, Orr, Hudson, Emmitt, Snitch, Ferres, Jones, Milner, Fozzard, Massey, McGoldrick, Holmes, Widders, Clark, Eden, Parker.
