Glasgow Warriors v Scarlets: Guinness PRO12 preview
Last Updated: 06/09/15 6:02pm
Glasgow Warriors begin their Guinness PRO12 title defence against the Scarlets on Saturday, live on Sky Sports 4 HD.
Gregor Townsend is minus a host of key players who are away on World Cup duty but the Warriors head coach is still able to name a match-day squad that includes 15 internationals.
Teenage lock Scott Cummings makes his first competitive appearance after impressing during the pre-season games against Clermont and Canada. He partners Rob Harley in the second row.
Scrum-half Grayson Hart makes his debut alongside stand-off Scott Wight while Josh Strauss, who has been named in Scotland's World Cup squad, starts at blindside flanker.
Meanwhile, Scotland international John Barclay has been named in the Scarlets team following his omission from Vern Cotter's World Cup squad.
Barclay, who scored a try in last weekend's win over Italy, starts at No 8, with wing Hadleigh Parks captaining the Welsh region in the absence of Ken Owens and Scott Williams.
Back-row forward Morgan Allen is also missing after he was ruled out for up to 16 weeks after suffering a ruptured bicep during a training session on Tuesday.
"Scarlets are a tough side and we know we'll need to be at our best on Saturday night in order to start the season with a positive result," said Townsend.
"We have real depth to our squad and the Rugby World Cup period is an opportunity for our players to show what they can do and we're looking forward to seeing them all represent the club."
