Ander Herrera remains in talks with Manchester United over a new deal despite strong interest from Athletic Bilbao, Sky Sports News understands.
Herrera has been free to talk with foreign clubs since January 1 but we understand the midfielder is happy to continue discussions on a possible new deal at United.
La Liga side Bilbao have admitted they would like to take the 29-year-old back to Spain.
But United triggered a one-year option in Herrera's contract last year and he is thought to be enjoying life at Old Trafford under the caretaker management of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
Herrera joined United from Bilbao in the summer of 2014 and the Spain international has made 177 appearances for the Premier League club, scoring 19 goals.
Bilbao find themselves in a relegation battle in La Liga - they are currently 17th, just two points clear of the drop zone.
