Birmingham City have rejected a £1.5m bid from Bournemouth for winger Demarai Gray.

The Cherries' offer has been turned down by their Sky Bet Championship rivals, who are under no pressure to sell the England U19 international.

Blues have offered Gray a two-year contract extension - his current deal expires in 2016 - in a bid to keep him at St Andrew's.

Crystal Palace had a bid rejected in the summer and since then Gray, 18, has scored four goals in 20 games for Birmingham - including a hat-trick in a 6-1 win over Reading early in December.

Bournemouth are currently top of the Championship table and are looking to strengthen their squad in order to push for promotion in the second half of the season.

Birmingham are 14th in the table having won six out of 10 games since Gary Rowett replaced Lee Clark as manager in November.
