Crawley Town have signed midfielder Anthony Wordsworth on a three-month loan deal from Ipswich Town.

The 26-year-old is making his second temporary departure from Portman Road this season after recently returning from his loan spell with Sky Bet Championship side Rotherham United, for whom he made eight appearances.

Wordsworth joined Ipswich from Colchester United in January 2013 on a two-and-half-year contract, but has made only 20 appearances for the club since then.

He had previously scored 35 goals in 199 appearances for the U’s.

Wordsworth could now make his debut for Crawley, who are 23rd in League One, in Saturday’s game at Rochdale.

Crawley boss Dean Saunders said: "I'm delighted Anthony has agreed to come here because he's going to be a great addition to our squad in an area of the team we need to strengthen.

"He's aggressive, mobile and he can bring goals to the team as well. I know he's looking forward to a new challenge with us over the next three months and to be playing regularly in League One."
