Leicestershire have signed former South Africa U19 batsman Colin Ackermann.
The 25-year-old, who has a first-class average just shy of 40, has signed a two-year contract with the Division Two side.
Ackermann played club cricket in Leicestershire in 2012 and made one appearance for the county's second XI, scoring a half-century.
A right-hander currently playing for Warriors in South Africa, Ackermann also bowls off-spin which has brought him 62 wickets across all three formats of the game.
"Colin is a quality top order batsman who can also bowl some useful off-spin," said Pierre de Bruyn, who was promoted to head coach following Andrew McDonald's departure at the end of the season.
"He will offer us a good option in all three formats of the game. Colin will provide us with further competition for places and we look forward to him joining up with us ahead of the 2017 season."
