Team Sky have welcomed the decision to dismiss the case over Gianni Moscon following an incident at the Tre Valli Varesine in 2017.

The Italian was accused of intentionally causing Sebastien Reichenbach to crash with the Swiss rider suffering a fractured elbow and hip.

Moscon was at the disciplinary hearing in Geneva on the day after Paris-Roubaix on April 9, but the proceedings were adjourned without a verdict. He faced a ban of up to six months for 'behaving in a violent manner'.

Although the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) have not confirmed the decision, Team Sky released a statement on Wednesday concerning the legal outcome.

It read: "It has been a lengthy process during which an independent panel heard evidence from all parties and found that there was not a case to answer.

"These were serious allegations which Gianni and the Team have always strongly contested. We back Gianni and he has our full support.

"We are pleased he can now get on with racing with a line now drawn under this episode. He is a very talented young bike rider who will have much to contribute to the Team over the coming months and years."

Moscon has continued to race despite the doubts over his future involvement.

He is in line to compete for Team Sky at the Tour de France after riding with Geraint Thomas at the Critérium du Dauphiné.
