The Dutch club made the Serb their record signing when they paid Herenveen €16million for his services in 2008, but with his contract ending next year it now seems certain they will cash in on the 23-year-old.

Borussia Monchengladbach and Besiktas are the latest clubs to be linked to Sulejmani, who has also attracted interest from Valencia, Bayer Leverkusen and West Ham United.

Marc Overmars, Ajax's director of football, confirmed that Sulejmani's exit looks to be getting closer.

"We are aware of the interest from Besiktas and Moncheongladbach," the former Ajax and Arsenal star told De Telegraaf.

"When the clubs move, we can definitely work out a deal. That's important for Miralem, if he wants to play in the second half of the season.

"He is not part of Frank de Boer's plans, and I expect that won't change soon."

Sulejmani recently told Voetbal International, "The next step in my career must be correctly and carefully chosen. It's my wish to play in one of the strongest leagues in Europe."
