AHMED HOSSAM is facing a lengthy spell on the sidelines after suffering a head injury during Ajax`s Uefa Cup clash with Apollon Limassol last week.

The Egyptian forward, known as `Mido`, suffered two collisions with opposing players and had blackouts after the game.

This points to possible brain damage, and he is set for more extensive tests at Amsterdam`s VU Hospital in a bid to pinpoint the problem.

Ajax are concerned about the 18-year-old`s condition, and are determined to find the best treatment available to help Hossam make a speedy recovery.
