The Brazilian, who scored in Ajax`s romp over De Graafschap at the weekend, has a deal that runs until next summer, but coach Ronald Koeman wants to head off the possibility of any team luring him away under the Bosman rule.
A deal that will tie Wamberto to the Amsterdam ArenA until 2005 has been tabled, and the player is currently mulling over the terms.
The 27-year-old was brought to Ajax from Standard Liege in 1998, but made little impact during his first three seasons.
However, since Koeman replaced Co Adriaanse at the helm, he has been a shining light - netting eight goals in 25 games.
