Ajax not keeping Mendes da Silva

DAVID MENDES DA SILVA will return to Sparta Rotterdam in the summer after Ajax decided not to turn his loan move into a permanent deal.
The 20-year-old has been with Ajax since December, but amassed only three substitute appearances and failed to sufficiently impress during his time with the Amsterdam side`s reserves.
Injuries blighted Mendes da Silva`s time at Ajax, and he failed to convince coach Ronald Koeman that he was worthy of more time to impress.
He will return to Sparta, but it remains to be seen if he stays in Rotterdam due to them languishing in the Gouden Gids Divisie.
Mendes da Silva was seen as one of Holland`s brightest talents a few years ago, but has stagnated of late.
He may well seek out another move in order to kick-start his career.
