Tight end Julius Thomas is set to be traded to the Miami Dolphins from the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The deal has been reported by NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport but the trade cannot become official until the new league year begins on March 9.

The trade will reunite Thomas with Dolphins head coach Adam Gase, who was offensive coordinator when the player excelled for the Denver Broncos in 2013-14, earning a pair of trips to the Pro Bowl.

Thomas then played two seasons with Jacksonville after signing a five-year deal during the 2015 off-season.

Over his six-year NFL career, Thomas has hauled in 185 receptions for 2,018 yards in 57 games.

Veteran tackle Branden Albert may be heading to Jacksonville from Miami as part of a separate deal.
